Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sylpheed-plugins on Kali Linux.
What is sylpheed-plugins
sylpheed-plugins is:
This package comprises all loadable plugins which are included
with Sylpheed sources. Plugins extend Sylpheed by providing new
features and/or capabilities not present in core application.
Currently only the unique existing plugin is included:
Attachment Tool: a plugin for dealing with attachments in messages.
There are three methods to install sylpheed-plugins on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sylpheed-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sylpheed-plugins using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sylpheed-plugins
Install sylpheed-plugins Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sylpheed-plugins using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sylpheed-pluginsInstall sylpheed-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sylpheed-plugins using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sylpheed-plugins
How To Uninstall sylpheed-plugins on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sylpheed-plugins package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sylpheed-plugins
Uninstall sylpheed-plugins And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sylpheed-plugins and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sylpheed-plugins
Remove sylpheed-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove sylpheed-plugins configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sylpheed-plugins
Remove sylpheed-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sylpheed-plugins configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sylpheed-plugins
