What is systemtap-sdt-dev
systemtap-sdt-dev is:
This package contains header file and executable (dtrace) that
can be used to add static probes into userspace applications
for use with SystemTap.
SystemTap provides infrastructure to simplify the gathering of
information about the running Linux system.
To be able to write new SystemTap probes, install systemtap package.
There are three methods to install systemtap-sdt-dev
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install systemtap-sdt-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install systemtap-sdt-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install systemtap-sdt-dev
Install systemtap-sdt-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install systemtap-sdt-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install systemtap-sdt-dev
Install systemtap-sdt-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install systemtap-sdt-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install systemtap-sdt-dev
How To Uninstall systemtap-sdt-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the systemtap-sdt-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove systemtap-sdt-dev
Uninstall systemtap-sdt-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall systemtap-sdt-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove systemtap-sdt-dev
Remove systemtap-sdt-dev Configurations and Data
To remove systemtap-sdt-dev
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge systemtap-sdt-dev
Remove systemtap-sdt-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove systemtap-sdt-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge systemtap-sdt-dev
