Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install systray-mdstat
on Kali Linux.
What is systray-mdstat
systray-mdstat is:
systray-mdstat is a system tray icon indicating the state of local
Linux Software RAIDs (as set up with mdadm) by checking /proc/mdstat
for changes ?? especially failures ?? periodically.
The use case for this utility is a desktop or laptop with a software
RAID setup and no remote monitoring of the RAID (e.g. for privacy
reasons or due to lacking a permanent network connection or an
appropriate monitoring server).
There are three methods to install systray-mdstat
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install systray-mdstat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install systray-mdstat
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install systray-mdstat
Install systray-mdstat Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install systray-mdstat
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install systray-mdstat
Install systray-mdstat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install systray-mdstat
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install systray-mdstat
How To Uninstall systray-mdstat on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the systray-mdstat
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove systray-mdstat
Uninstall systray-mdstat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall systray-mdstat
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove systray-mdstat
Remove systray-mdstat Configurations and Data
To remove systray-mdstat
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge systray-mdstat
Remove systray-mdstat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove systray-mdstat
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge systray-mdstat
