Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sysv-rc-conf on Kali Linux.
What is sysv-rc-conf
sysv-rc-conf is:
sysv-rc-conf provides a terminal GUI for managing “/etc/rc{runlevel}.d/”
symlinks. The interface comes in two different flavors, one that simply
allows turning services on or off and another that allows for more fine tuned
management of the symlinks. Unlike most runlevel config programs, you can
edit startup scripts for any runlevel, not just your current one.
There are three methods to install sysv-rc-conf on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sysv-rc-conf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sysv-rc-conf using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sysv-rc-confInstall sysv-rc-conf Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sysv-rc-conf using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sysv-rc-confInstall sysv-rc-conf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sysv-rc-conf using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sysv-rc-confHow To Uninstall sysv-rc-conf on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sysv-rc-conf package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sysv-rc-confUninstall sysv-rc-conf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sysv-rc-conf and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sysv-rc-confRemove sysv-rc-conf Configurations and Data
To remove sysv-rc-conf configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sysv-rc-confRemove sysv-rc-conf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sysv-rc-conf configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sysv-rc-confDependencies
