What is acpitool-dbg
acpitool-dbg is:
AcpiTool is a Linux ACPI client. It’s a small command line application,
intended to be a replacement for the apm tool. The primary target audience are
laptop users, since these people are most interested in things like battery
status, thermal status and the ability to suspend (sleep mode). The program
simply accesses the /proc/acpi or /sysfs entries to get or set ACPI values.
It also supports various extensions for Toshiba, Asus, and IBM Thinkpad
laptops.
This package contains the debugging symbols.
There are three methods to install acpitool-dbg
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude

Install acpitool-dbg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install acpitool-dbg
using apt-get

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install acpitool-dbg

Install acpitool-dbg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install acpitool-dbg
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install acpitool-dbg
How To Uninstall acpitool-dbg on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the acpitool-dbg
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove acpitool-dbg
Uninstall acpitool-dbg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall acpitool-dbg
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove acpitool-dbg
Remove acpitool-dbg Configurations and Data
To remove acpitool-dbg
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge acpitool-dbg
Remove acpitool-dbg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove acpitool-dbg
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge acpitool-dbg
