Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install adql-java
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is adql-java
adql-java is:
ADQL is a SQL-like language which includes astronomical facilities to
query a database. This language has been defined by the IVOA in the
Recommendation of 30 Oct 2008 (Version 2.0) and is mainly used in the
Table Access Protocol (TAP).
Functionalities of the package:
- Parse: read ADQL queries in text and transform them into a Java object
(actually, a syntactic tree). - Manipulate: the generated object can be manipulated so than modifying the
original query. - Translate: an interface and some implementations lets translating SQL
into other languages like SQL.
There are three methods to install adql-java
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install adql-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install adql-java
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install adql-java
Install adql-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install adql-java
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install adql-java
Install adql-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install adql-java
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install adql-java
How To Uninstall adql-java on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the adql-java
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove adql-java
Uninstall adql-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall adql-java
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove adql-java
Remove adql-java Configurations and Data
To remove adql-java
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge adql-java
Remove adql-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove adql-java
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge adql-java
