What is agda

agda is:

Agda is a dependently typed functional programming language: It has inductive
families, which are like Haskell’s GADTs, but they can be indexed by values and
not just types. It also has parameterised modules, mixfix operators, Unicode
characters, and an interactive Emacs interface (the type checker can assist in
the development of your code).

Agda is also a proof assistant: It is an interactive system for writing and
checking proofs. Agda is based on intuitionistic type theory, a foundational
system for constructive mathematics developed by the Swedish logician Per
Martin-Löf. It has many similarities with other proof assistants based on
dependent types, such as Coq, Epigram and NuPRL.

This is a meta package which provides Agda’s emacs mode, executable, standard
library and its documentation.

There are three methods to install agda on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install agda Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install agda using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install agda

Install agda Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install agda using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install agda

Install agda Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install agda using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install agda

How To Uninstall agda on Ubuntu 20.04

To uninstall only the agda package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove agda

Uninstall agda And Its Dependencies

To uninstall agda and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove agda

Remove agda Configurations and Data

To remove agda configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge agda

Remove agda configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove agda configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge agda
