What is ant-optional
ant-optional is:
Apache Ant is a Java library and command-line tool whose mission is to drive
processes described in build files as targets and extension points dependent
upon each other. The main known usage of Ant is the build of Java applications.
Ant supplies a number of built-in tasks allowing to compile, assemble, test
and run Java applications. Ant can also be used effectively to build non Java
applications, for instance C or C++ applications. More generally, Ant can be
used to pilot any type of process which can be described in terms of targets
and tasks.
This package contains the optional tasks libraries.
There are three methods to install ant-optional
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ant-optional Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ant-optional
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ant-optional

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ant-optional
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ant-optional
Install ant-optional Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ant-optional
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ant-optional
How To Uninstall ant-optional on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the ant-optional
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ant-optional
Uninstall ant-optional And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ant-optional
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ant-optional
Remove ant-optional Configurations and Data
To remove ant-optional
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ant-optional
Remove ant-optional configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ant-optional
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ant-optional
