Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install argonaut-samba on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is argonaut-samba
argonaut-samba is:
Client / server system for managing systems in collaboration with
FusionDirectory (LDAP directory manager). Argonaut also allows interface
with deployment tools such as FAI (Fully Automated Install) or OPSI (Open
PC Server Integration).
This is a tool that reads samba shares from LDAP and constructs
a samba configuration that can be included in the main smb.conf file
This package contains the argonaut-client module
There are three methods to install argonaut-samba on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install argonaut-samba Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install argonaut-samba using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install argonaut-samba
Install argonaut-samba Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install argonaut-samba using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install argonaut-samba
Install argonaut-samba Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install argonaut-samba using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install argonaut-samba
How To Uninstall argonaut-samba on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the argonaut-samba package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove argonaut-samba
Uninstall argonaut-samba And Its Dependencies
To uninstall argonaut-samba and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove argonaut-samba
Remove argonaut-samba Configurations and Data
To remove argonaut-samba configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge argonaut-samba
Remove argonaut-samba configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove argonaut-samba configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge argonaut-samba
