In this tutorial we learn how to install bacula-director-sqlite3
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is bacula-director-sqlite3
bacula-director-sqlite3 is:
Bacula is a set of programs to manage backup, recovery and verification of
data across a network of computers of different kinds.
The Bacula Director service supervises all the backup, restore, verify and
archive operations. It can run as a daemon or as a foreground service which
administrators can use to schedule backups and recover files.
This package stores Bacula’s catalog in an SQLite 3 database and thus is
only suitable for small or test installations.
Please be aware that using SQLite 3 databases is no longer supported
by the author.
There are three methods to install bacula-director-sqlite3
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bacula-director-sqlite3
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bacula-director-sqlite3
How To Uninstall bacula-director-sqlite3 on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the bacula-director-sqlite3
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bacula-director-sqlite3
Uninstall bacula-director-sqlite3 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bacula-director-sqlite3
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bacula-director-sqlite3
Remove bacula-director-sqlite3 Configurations and Data
To remove bacula-director-sqlite3
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bacula-director-sqlite3
Remove bacula-director-sqlite3 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bacula-director-sqlite3
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bacula-director-sqlite3
