Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install bibutils on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is bibutils
bibutils is:
Convert between the following bibliographic data formats: BibTeX,
COPAC, EndNote refer, EndNote XML, Pubmed XML, ISI web of science, US
Library of Congress MODS XML, RIS, and Word 2007 bibliography.
This package provides command line tools bib2xml, copac2xml, end2xml
endx2xml, isi2xml, med2xml, ris2xml which convert to MODS XML format,
modsclean which reformats MODS XML, and a matching set of commands
xml2ads, xml2bib, xml2end, xml2isi, xml2ris, xml2wordbib which convert
from MODS XML.
There are three methods to install bibutils on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install bibutils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install bibutils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install bibutils
Install bibutils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install bibutils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install bibutils
Install bibutils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install bibutils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install bibutils
How To Uninstall bibutils on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the bibutils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove bibutils
Uninstall bibutils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall bibutils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove bibutils
Remove bibutils Configurations and Data
To remove bibutils configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge bibutils
Remove bibutils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove bibutils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge bibutils
