on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is ftools-fv
ftools-fv is:
Fv provides a graphical user interface to data stored in FITS
(Flexible Image Transport System) files. Local files can be created,
viewed and edited, files on the internet can be opened read-only
through the http and ftp protocols. Through the POWplot program,
FITS data can be visualized in a large variety of styles. An
interface to the SkyView online database allows for searching,
downloading, and plotting of images and object lists for a region of
the sky.
There are three methods to install ftools-fv
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ftools-fv Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ftools-fv
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ftools-fv
Install ftools-fv Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ftools-fv
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ftools-fv
Install ftools-fv Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ftools-fv
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ftools-fv
How To Uninstall ftools-fv on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the ftools-fv
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ftools-fv
Uninstall ftools-fv And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ftools-fv
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ftools-fv
Remove ftools-fv Configurations and Data
To remove ftools-fv
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ftools-fv
Remove ftools-fv configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ftools-fv
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ftools-fv
