Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-fga on Kali Linux.
What is gap-fga
gap-fga is:
GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis
on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library
of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP
language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in
research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings,
vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more.
The FGA package installs methods for computations with finitely generated
subgroups of free groups and provides a presentation for their automorphism
groups. It was written by Christian Sievers.
There are three methods to install gap-fga on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gap-fga Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gap-fga using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gap-fga
Install gap-fga Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-fga using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gap-fgaInstall gap-fga Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gap-fga using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gap-fga
How To Uninstall gap-fga on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gap-fga package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gap-fga
Uninstall gap-fga And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gap-fga and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gap-fga
Remove gap-fga Configurations and Data
To remove gap-fga configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gap-fga
Remove gap-fga configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gap-fga configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gap-fga
