Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gcl-doc
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is gcl-doc
gcl-doc is:
GNU Common Lisp (GCL) is a Common Lisp compiler and interpreter
implemented in C, and complying mostly with the standard set
forth in the book “Common Lisp, the Language I”. It attempts
to strike a useful middle ground in performance and portability
from its design around C.
This package contains Documentation in info format of both the
system internals, as well as the graphical interface currently
implemented in Tcl/Tk.
There are three methods to install gcl-doc
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gcl-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gcl-doc
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gcl-doc
Install gcl-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gcl-doc
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gcl-doc
Install gcl-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gcl-doc
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gcl-doc
How To Uninstall gcl-doc on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the gcl-doc
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gcl-doc
Uninstall gcl-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gcl-doc
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gcl-doc
Remove gcl-doc Configurations and Data
To remove gcl-doc
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gcl-doc
Remove gcl-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gcl-doc
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gcl-doc
