What is gfs2-utils
gfs2-utils is:
The Global File System allows a cluster of machines to concurrently access
shared storage hardware like SANs or iSCSI and network block devices. GFS
can be deployed to build high-availability services without the single point
of failure of a file server.
This package contains tools for creating and managing global file systems.
GFS itself is a set of kernel modules.
There are three methods to install gfs2-utils
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gfs2-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gfs2-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gfs2-utils
Install gfs2-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gfs2-utils
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gfs2-utils
Install gfs2-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gfs2-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gfs2-utils
How To Uninstall gfs2-utils on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the gfs2-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gfs2-utils
Uninstall gfs2-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gfs2-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gfs2-utils
Remove gfs2-utils Configurations and Data
To remove gfs2-utils
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gfs2-utils
Remove gfs2-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gfs2-utils
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gfs2-utils
