Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install graphite-api
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is graphite-api
graphite-api is:
Graphite consists of a storage backend and a web-based visualization
frontend. Client applications send streams of numeric time-series
data to the Graphite backend (called carbon), where it gets stored in
fixed-size database files similar in design to RRD.
Graphite-API is an alternative to Graphite-web, without any built-in
dashboard. Its role is solely to fetch metrics from a time-series
database and rendering graphs or JSON data out of these time
series. It is meant to be consumed by any of the numerous Graphite
dashboard applications.
There are three methods to install graphite-api
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install graphite-api Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install graphite-api
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install graphite-api
Install graphite-api Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install graphite-api
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install graphite-api
Install graphite-api Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install graphite-api
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install graphite-api
How To Uninstall graphite-api on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the graphite-api
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove graphite-api
Uninstall graphite-api And Its Dependencies
To uninstall graphite-api
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove graphite-api
Remove graphite-api Configurations and Data
To remove graphite-api
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge graphite-api
Remove graphite-api configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove graphite-api
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge graphite-api
