Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install grml-debootstrap
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is grml-debootstrap
grml-debootstrap is:
Provides a wrapper suite around debootstrap and cdebootstrap
to ease installation of a pure Debian system.
Configuration can be done on the command line, in a dialog frontend
or in /etc/debootstrap/config. You will get a pure Debian system
installed on the specified device or directory, or directly into
an image file suitable for Virtual Machine use.
There are three methods to install grml-debootstrap
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install grml-debootstrap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install grml-debootstrap
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install grml-debootstrap
Install grml-debootstrap Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install grml-debootstrap
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install grml-debootstrap
Install grml-debootstrap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install grml-debootstrap
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install grml-debootstrap
How To Uninstall grml-debootstrap on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the grml-debootstrap
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove grml-debootstrap
Uninstall grml-debootstrap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall grml-debootstrap
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove grml-debootstrap
Remove grml-debootstrap Configurations and Data
To remove grml-debootstrap
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge grml-debootstrap
Remove grml-debootstrap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove grml-debootstrap
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge grml-debootstrap
