What is hexcompare
hexcompare is:
hexcompare is a curses-based utility to compare and identify differences
between two binary files. These differences are then represented visually
with an interactive block diagram. Hexcompare is useful in forensics cases
when you have two files and you want to compare them to find out whether
they are identicals or similars.
There are three methods to install hexcompare
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install hexcompare Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install hexcompare

How To Uninstall hexcompare on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the hexcompare
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove hexcompare
Uninstall hexcompare And Its Dependencies
To uninstall hexcompare
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove hexcompare
Remove hexcompare Configurations and Data
To remove hexcompare
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge hexcompare
