Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install hugin
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is hugin
hugin is:
Hugin is a panorama photo stitching program. Essentially, Hugin is a
GUI frontend for Panorama Tools. Stitching is accomplished by using
several overlapping photos taken from the same location, and using
control points to align and transform the photos so that they can be
blended together to form a larger image. Hugin allows for the easy
creation of control points between two images, optimization of the
image transforms, and much more.
This package includes the following graphical interfaces, using the
command-line tools provided in the hugin-tools package:
- hugin – Hugin panorama creator.
- hugin_stitch_project – Hugin batch stitcher.
- PTBatcherGUI – Batch controller for the stitching process.
- calibrate_lens_gui – Lens calibration tool.
There are three methods to install hugin
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install hugin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install hugin
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install hugin
Install hugin Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install hugin
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install hugin
Install hugin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install hugin
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install hugin
How To Uninstall hugin on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the hugin
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove hugin
Uninstall hugin And Its Dependencies
To uninstall hugin
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove hugin
Remove hugin Configurations and Data
To remove hugin
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge hugin
Remove hugin configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove hugin
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge hugin
