Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libaec-dev on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libaec-dev
libaec-dev is:
Libaec provides fast lossless compression of 1 up to 32 bit wide
signed or unsigned integers (samples). The library achieves best
results for low entropy data as often encountered in space imaging
instrument data or numerical model output from weather or climate
simulations. While floating point representations are not directly
supported, they can also be efficiently coded by grouping exponents
and mantissa.
There are three methods to install libaec-dev on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libaec-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libaec-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libaec-dev
Install libaec-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libaec-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libaec-dev
Install libaec-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libaec-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libaec-dev
How To Uninstall libaec-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libaec-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libaec-dev
Uninstall libaec-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libaec-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libaec-dev
Remove libaec-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libaec-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libaec-dev
Remove libaec-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libaec-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libaec-dev
