on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libapache2-mod-xsendfile
libapache2-mod-xsendfile is:
This package provides the xsendfile module for the Apache 2 webserver.
xsendfile is a small Apache2 module that processes X-SENDFILE header
sent by the original output handler.
If it encounters the presence of such header it will discard all output
and send the file specified by that header instead using Apache internals
including all optimizations like caching-headers and sendfile or mmap if
configured.
It is useful for processing script-output of e.g. php, perl or any cgi.
There are three methods to install libapache2-mod-xsendfile
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libapache2-mod-xsendfile Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-xsendfile
using apt-get

Install libapache2-mod-xsendfile Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-xsendfile

Install libapache2-mod-xsendfile Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-xsendfile
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libapache2-mod-xsendfile
How To Uninstall libapache2-mod-xsendfile on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libapache2-mod-xsendfile
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libapache2-mod-xsendfile
Uninstall libapache2-mod-xsendfile And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libapache2-mod-xsendfile
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libapache2-mod-xsendfile
Remove libapache2-mod-xsendfile Configurations and Data
To remove libapache2-mod-xsendfile
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libapache2-mod-xsendfile
Remove libapache2-mod-xsendfile configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libapache2-mod-xsendfile
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libapache2-mod-xsendfile
