on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libasound2-plugins
libasound2-plugins is:
This package contains plugins for the ALSA library that are
not included in the main libasound2 package.
The following plugins are included, among other:
- a52: S16 to A52 stream converter
- jack: play or capture via JACK
- oss: run native ALSA apps on OSS drivers
- pulse: play or capture via Pulse Audio
- lavcrate, samplerate and speexrate: rate converters
- upmix and vdownmix: convert from/to 2 and 4/6 channel streams

There are three methods to install libasound2-plugins
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get

Install libasound2-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libasound2-plugins
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libasound2-plugins

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libasound2-plugins
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libasound2-plugins
Install libasound2-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libasound2-plugins
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libasound2-plugins
How To Uninstall libasound2-plugins on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libasound2-plugins
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libasound2-plugins
Uninstall libasound2-plugins And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libasound2-plugins
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libasound2-plugins
Remove libasound2-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove libasound2-plugins
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libasound2-plugins
Remove libasound2-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libasound2-plugins
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libasound2-plugins
