Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libavifile-0.7-bin on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libavifile-0.7-bin
libavifile-0.7-bin is:
Library that allows programs to read and write compressed
AVI files (Indeo Video, DivX ;-), etc.) under GNU.
(De)Compression is performed with various audio/video plugins
(FFMpeg, Vorbis, Win32, …).
Formats like mpeg, mov are partly supported.

This package contains the toolkit for libavifile.
There are three methods to install libavifile-0.7-bin on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libavifile-0.7-bin Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libavifile-0.7-bin using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libavifile-0.7-bin
Install libavifile-0.7-bin Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libavifile-0.7-bin using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libavifile-0.7-bin
Install libavifile-0.7-bin Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libavifile-0.7-bin using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libavifile-0.7-bin
How To Uninstall libavifile-0.7-bin on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libavifile-0.7-bin package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libavifile-0.7-bin

To uninstall libavifile-0.7-bin and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:

To remove libavifile-0.7-bin configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libavifile-0.7-bin

We can use the following command to remove libavifile-0.7-bin configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libavifile-0.7-bin
