Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libdbix-sequence-perl on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libdbix-sequence-perl
libdbix-sequence-perl is:
DBIx::Sequence is intended to give easier portability to Perl database
application by providing a database independent unique ID generator. This way,
an application developer is not bound to use his database’s SEQUENCE or
auto_increment thus making his application portable on multiple database
environnements.
This module implements a simple Spin Locker mechanism and is garanteed to
return a unique value every time it is called, even with concurrent processes.
It uses your database for its state storage with ANSI SQL92 compliant SQL. All
SQL queries inside DBIx::Sequence are pre cached and very efficient especially
under mod_perl.
There are three methods to install libdbix-sequence-perl on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libdbix-sequence-perl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libdbix-sequence-perl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libdbix-sequence-perl
Install libdbix-sequence-perl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libdbix-sequence-perl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libdbix-sequence-perl
Install libdbix-sequence-perl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libdbix-sequence-perl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libdbix-sequence-perl
How To Uninstall libdbix-sequence-perl on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libdbix-sequence-perl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libdbix-sequence-perl
Uninstall libdbix-sequence-perl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libdbix-sequence-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libdbix-sequence-perl
Remove libdbix-sequence-perl Configurations and Data
To remove libdbix-sequence-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libdbix-sequence-perl
Remove libdbix-sequence-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libdbix-sequence-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libdbix-sequence-perl
