on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libdc1394-utils
libdc1394-utils is:
libdc1394 is a library that is intended to provide a high level
programming interface for application developers who wish to control
IEEE 1394 based cameras that conform to the 1394-based Digital Camera
Specification (found at http://www.1394ta.org/).
This version of libdc1394 supports both the old and new (juju) FireWire stack.
It automatically detects which one to use at runtime.
This package contains an example program.

There are three methods to install libdc1394-utils
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libdc1394-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libdc1394-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libdc1394-utils
Install libdc1394-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libdc1394-utils
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libdc1394-utils
Install libdc1394-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libdc1394-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libdc1394-utils
How To Uninstall libdc1394-utils on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libdc1394-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libdc1394-utils
Uninstall libdc1394-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libdc1394-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libdc1394-utils
Remove libdc1394-utils Configurations and Data
To remove libdc1394-utils
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libdc1394-utils
Remove libdc1394-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libdc1394-utils
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libdc1394-utils
