Xvid (formerly XviD) is an open source MPEG-4 video codec, implementing MPEG-4

How To Uninstall libxvidcore-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libxvidcore-dev
package we can use the following command:

To uninstall libxvidcore-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libxvidcore-dev

configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libxvidcore-dev
Remove libxvidcore-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libxvidcore-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libxvidcore-dev
